Now that it's a little (very little) warmer here in the UK, I want to remind you about the power of nature in this blog because, sadly, in our modern world we have forgotten just how potent and life-changing and healing it is to simply be in the natural world.
We are part of this universe and part of this planet. By just putting our bare feet on Mother Earth we 'plug in' to her energy. It rises up within us and rebalances our circadian rhythms - we are 'grounding' or 'earthing' when we do this.
I also believe this energy from Mother Earth does so much more - our body and our energy field is part of the energy of Mother Earth. When we reconnect with this energy, our bodies and minds are reset and healed and we release any stored up negative energy - static electricity, if you will - back into the earth. Mother Earth is endowed with electrons that we absorb through the soles of our feet. This is like taking antioxidants through your feet! It helps you sleep better and reduces the inflammation in the body that contributes to everything from arthritis to heart disease. The arrival of the rubber soled shoe however has meant that people are no longer grounding properly and this is negatively impacting our health - there is a wonderful documentary about this called 'The Science of Grounding' that I will attach below.
I believe so profoundly in the power of getting into nature that I walk in the park every single morning - my angels come with me and we talk about whatever's going on in my life and my work.
I find being outside, especially near water, also makes my meditations so much stronger and my visualisations more powerful. This is in part because the energy of nature is already 'clear'. Of course it's wonderful to meditate anytime, anywhere, but if you meditate in a room in your house, first you are surrounded by four walls and second, you don't know who's left what kind of energy in the room before you got there.
My advice for you this month then is to take advantage of the warmer weather - if you live in the northern hemisphere - and place your hands, feet or bottom on the earth whenever you can, ideally every day for at least 15 minutes. If you can do this daily for a few days, even weeks, see if you notice any improvements in your sleeping or health, especially inflammation-related conditions.
