Paws for thought
I want to talk about animal communication this week. I've had some clients in the last few days who've come to me for healing for their pets. Cats and dogs, specifically, although over the years I've had sessions with all manner of feathered, furred and scaly beasties.
It's reinforced for me once again how blessed we are to have our animals in our lives. These divine, pure spirits that walk this earth in animal bodies are here to teach us about unconditional love, which is what they offer us in abundance.
What many of my clients are surprised to realise though is that, when they come to me with an animal that has an illness of some kind, be that a physical or mental disorder, the root cause is invariably their human companion (you may call yourself your pet's 'owner' but this is no more true than calling yourself the owner of your spouse and children).
I had a man this week who had a session with me over Skype as he and his dog were based in Europe. The dog was anxious and depressed and had a rash on his skin. The cause? The man's own high stress and anxiety levels.
"You must heal your own issues in order to help your dog," I told the man. In truth, he was in far more need of healing than his beautiful canine friend so he booked a session for himself.
Our animals will take on our conditions in order to relieve us of them. I've known horses that get arthritis in their knee just like their 'owner'. This is why domestic animals get human conditions like diabetes and obesity. No animal that lives in the wild ever gets diabetes!
As well, your animal is highly sensitive to the atmosphere and energy of your home as well as to your personal energy. The best thing you can do for your pet is not bring your stresses home.
I want to leave you with a small tip on how to communicate with your pet. First, be aware that your pet can read your thoughts, this is why they always know when, for example, you're going on holiday. The have 'snatched' the images from your head as you've thought about it. We can use the same method to deliberately communicate. So instead of talking to your pet and expecting them to understand English, communicate with them in the language of images and emotions. Sit for a few moments in quiet meditation and 'send' your pet images and feelings of love. This method can also be used to reassure a pet about something like a house move, 'send' your pet images of them being happy in the new home, images of sunshine, grassy lawns, log fires... along with feelings of being cosy, safe and happy.
Before I finish, just a little diary info. If you or anyone you know are in Bath this coming weekend on Saturday 10 February, there's a wonderful Holistic Wellbeing Fayre fundraiser happening at Bath Guildhall from 10.30am till the evening. It's being held to raise money for HorseWorld, a Bristol-based charity dedicated to saving the lives of abandoned, neglected and mistreated horses, ponies and donkeys.
HorseWorld cares for more than 100 horses, ponies and donkeys at its Bristol site and provides after-care and support for around 300 more, who have been re-homed throughout the South-West. It's motto is rescue, rehabilitate and rehome. More information here: holistichorsewelfarefundraiser.webs.com
Lots of love, Zoë xx
